LP Seminar in Okinawa was Awesome!

We had a series of light painting workshops this past weekend down in Okinawa which were a huge success. LED Lenser Japan, Light Painting Brushes, and Lomography Japan supported the event with some great door prizes. I also owe a huge thank you to Chris Willson Photography.

LIT: The Blue Peak

From last year we’ve teamed up with some of the world’s most talented light painters to work on a new documentary idea. The aim of the project is to revisit history through light painting. The teams go to cool locations across the planet to inspire their performances.

Quicktip! Shutter releases

Shutter releases! What’s the deal? Too long that it hangs down by your feet but too short to use as a regular remote for when you need to be in the picture. I don’t get it. Who chose this length? It just dangles around in the dark just above ground level.

Quicktip! for Lens fog

At certain times of the year lens fog and even ice can be a real problem when photography at night. Of course, this is going to vary depending on where in the world you are located, but here in Japan it is almost all year. Especially when the camera is left to time lapse the night sky.

LED Lenser X21R.2 vs Kokubunji Temple

Just a quick post to show what can be done with just a flashlight at night. This requires no special technique really and more just a bright flashlight. We went for a night shoot at Kokubunji Temple in Okayama, Japan. There was a full moon high in the sky so not many stars are visible.

Orion Rising

I have not had the opportunity to do much night shooting recently. Commercial work has consumed most of our time leaving no time for any personal photography. I decided to change that this week and pushed all my work aside for the night to go grab a few night shots.

This fall has been insanely busy for tdubphoto and I could not be happier. I traveled to Okinawa to teach a workshop, Jon traveled to Okinawa to teach a workshop, we scored our biggest contract to date and I became an official ambassador for LED Lenser.

OK, so this post is about a month late! Hey, we are busy people over here at tdubphoto! I recently did another weekend of light painting workshops which were held over the long weekend in October down in tropical Okinawa, Japan. This year was the fourth year in a row for the workshops.
