Quicktip! Shutter releases

Shutter releases! What’s the deal? Too long that it hangs down by your feet but too short to use as a regular remote for when you need to be in the picture. I don’t get it. Who chose this length? It just dangles around in the dark just above ground level.

LED Lenser X21R.2 vs Kokubunji Temple

Just a quick post to show what can be done with just a flashlight at night. This requires no special technique really and more just a bright flashlight. We went for a night shoot at Kokubunji Temple in Okayama, Japan. There was a full moon high in the sky so not many stars are visible.

PLAYHARD 2014

Sunday, December 27th PLAYHARD 2014 Bouldering Session took place in Kurashiki, Japan. The event was appropriately named as all competitors sure played hard. Competitors came from near and far to pit their bouldering skills against each other and tdubphoto was on hand to catch the action.
Here are a few of our favorite shot with a full gallery at the bottom of the post.

The shots above were lit only using LED Lenser torches. For the finals the lights were shut off and the climbers were spot lit with handheld torches from LED Lenser to add a little drama.
Be sure to catch us with us on FB! We have tons of exciting stuff coming up.

Orion Rising

I have not had the opportunity to do much night shooting recently. Commercial work has consumed most of our time leaving no time for any personal photography. I decided to change that this week and pushed all my work aside for the night to go grab a few night shots.

Bouldering at night with a LED Lenser H7.2

We were recently on a job to film a bouldering competition here in Okayama, Japan. When we wrapped up filming for the night we had the chance to do a little bouldering ourselves. This was the perfect opportunity to test out LED Lenser’s H7.2 headlamp. We would have a hike through a pitch black forest where we need all of 250 lumens as well as be face-to-face with a granite wall where we could test the lowest power.

The light performed excellently. The zoom was really useful for extra reach and the nice wide beam was great while climbing. The adjustment dial on the back made using the light super easy. If you are in the market for a headlamp we highly recommend the H7.2 from LED Lenser.

    Okinawa iStock Event

We will be coming to Okinawa to look for photographers and videographers interested in making money through licensing their content through stock photography with iStock.

LED Lenser makes the finest handheld torches on the planet. They have kindly supported what we do and have been a vital partner of ours. We have been using their lights since 2008 and are proud to be working closely with them.

We’ve been using DJI equipment professionally now since 2013, so we’re super excited to be working alongside them now to produce content. DJI make a range of drones and camera stabilizers that take our work to a higher level, both figuratively and literally.
